Sumatra Mandheling

We’ve carried Sumatra before, and we’ll always go back. This Sumatra has heavy body, very low acidity and wild funky notes.

Why the “retro”? Our importer went looking for a specific Sumatra taste they remembered from 20 years ago. After a long search, they realized that the taste they were looking for came from the original Arabica Burbon strain of coffee trees, and in the last 20 years that most of the coffee trees had been hybridized for easier growing and picking. They found a farm wiht Arabica Burbon, and now pay a premium for them to hand sort and process these beans.

The result is the classic Sumatra taste – a wild, funky cup that is anything but subtle. Not for everyone, but very distinctive.
